Lower Roaming Costs in EU
As of 1 July, to make a roamed call in another EU country shouldn’t cost more than EUR 0.43 per minute. For receiving calls users should not pay more than EUR 0.19.
Outgoing roaming calls will also be charged by the second, albeit after the first 30 seconds, rather than by the minute. Incoming calls will be charged by the second from the moment the call is initiated. Sending text messages from abroad will cost a maximum of EUR 0.11, almost three times cheaper than the previous EU average.
Travelers can also access the web with their mobile device without fear of ‘bill shock’ thanks to a wholesale cap of EUR 1 per MB downloaded.
The EC hopes to cut roaming charges for EU consumers by a further 60%.
