ICT Experts & Stakeholders: Greater Focus on Broadband in Asia-Pacific
Delegates from some 35 countries attending the 7th Annual Forum of the Commonwealth Telecom Organisation (CTO) in Nadi, Fiji, have emphasized the need for governments, ICT operating companies, financial institutions, Universal Access and Service Funding agencies and entrepreneurs to collectively invest more in broadband infrastructure in developing countries.
In several panel discussions on the first day of a 3-day forum, speakers and delegates suggested that the revolution that has taken place in the mobile sector, thereby bringing affordable voice communications to billions could also occur with respect to Internet and broadband access.
