National regulators in the EU welcome the progress of the European legislative framework for electronic communications and underline the need for further strengthening of their independence, according to a press release from the European Regulators Group (ERG).
A study commissioned by ECTA, the European Competitive Telecommunications Association, reveals that high fixed costs will limit the availability of super fast broadband to many European homes and rural businesses.
INTUG welcomes the European Commission’s proposals for revision of the European Regulatory Framework for Telecommunications. Whilst applauding the EU’s progress in the last decade towards an open and competitive telecommunications market, the business users which INTUG represent are still unable to obtain the seamless services within all Member States, or across the EU, that they need to support efficient ICT investment.
INTUG has sent a letter to the EC concerning the Review of the European Regulatory Framework. The Users Group believes that the current Review provides an opportunity to enhance the effectiveness of sector specific telecommunications regulation.
This week, INTUG sent a letter to the European Commission concerning “access and call origination on public mobile telephone networks” – so-called Market 15. INTUG believes that the current Review of the European Regulatory Framework provides an opportunity to enhance the effectiveness of sector specific telecommunications regulation. Therefore the Users Group felt it was necessary to write the Commission to highlight enterprise users’ needs for pan-EU mobile services, which are key to their business productivity plans.
